Full Metal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa Review

I did say I would review this and here I am doing it.

Full metal alchemist is a completed series by Hiromu Arakawa (Original run August 2001June 2010) and talks about the journey of the two brothers with talent for alchemy, elder brother (and midget) Edward Elric who has lost an arm and leg and has full metal prosthetic ones instead and younger brother Alphonse Elric who lost his whole body and whose soul is stuck in an armor. Why you might ask? They trespassed God’s territory simply, well the rest is for you to find out in the amazing story.

The art is good but I wasn’t really impressed by it, it does have fabulous fight scenes though and the story is very touching. The brothers you will notice are also seeking redemption in a way and by the end of the manga (which is rather satisfying) they achieve their dreams but always following the law of alchemy of ‘equivalent exchange’.

The characters are unique and fun to watch. They have all gone through a lot and there are characters like this man, whose heart is as big as an ocean which gets them into trouble often. Maes Hughes for you ladies and gentlemen;

(let me love you Hughes, I can’t but finish this review in his honor)

Viz media is releasing a very good translation and the final 27th volume was released in December 2011.

Rating: 8/10- I really like it.
